Our outdoor spaces
Our outdoor area is an extension of our nursery and preschool classrooms, offering children the freedom to explore, move, imagine and investigate in the fresh air. It is thoughtfully designed to support physical development, creativity, problem‑solving and a deep connection with the natural world.
Outdoor Fun and Learning
Sandpit
The sandpit provides opportunities for sensory exploration, creative play and social interaction. Children dig, build and experiment with textures, developing fine motor skills, problem-solving and imaginative thinking.
Mud kitchen
Our mud kitchen encourages imaginative and sensory play. Children experiment with “cooking,” mixing mud, water and natural materials, promoting creativity, cooperative play and early science exploration. It’s a wonderful space for role‑play and language development.
Outdoor mark-making
Outdoor mark-making activities encourage children to practise early writing skills in a fun and creative way. Using chalk, brushes, water and natural surfaces, children explore letters, shapes and patterns while building confidence and fine motor skills.
Water play with guttering and water tray
Our water play area includes guttering, trays and a variety of tools for pouring, measuring and investigating. Children explore concepts such as flow, capacity and cause-and-effect, developing scientific thinking, problem-solving and collaboration.
Music area
Children enjoy experimenting with rhythm, sound and movement in our outdoor music area. Using a range of instruments, they develop listening skills, coordination, creativity and self-expression.
Outdoor maths area
Our outdoor maths area encourages children to explore numbers, shapes, patterns and measurements through hands-on activities. Learning is made meaningful through play, problem-solving and real-world contexts.
Outdoor construction area
In our outdoor construction area, children develop spatial awareness, problem-solving and teamwork. Using large blocks and natural materials, they design and build structures while exploring ideas in a hands-on way.
Stage and costumes
The outdoor stage and dress-up area provide children with opportunities to act out stories, create performances and explore imaginative play. This supports language development, confidence, social skills and expressive communication.
Bikes, trikes and scooters
Our outdoor playground encourages children to develop gross motor skills, balance and coordination through riding bikes, trikes and scooters. Children enjoy active play while building confidence and spatial awareness.
